Mark will be appearing at the up-coming Hay-on-Wye Literary Festival in Wales, UK, on Sunday 3rd of June. Breast Cancer Haven held its big fundraising ‘Blush Ball’ at the fabulous Natural History Museum in London on Thursday, May 3rd, 2007. During the evening an auction was held and one of the items up for grabs was a half-hour guitar lesson with Mark in his British Grove Studio. In addition, the winning bidder received a copy of Mark and Emmylou’s All The Roadrunning CD signed by Mark.
We are delighted to announce that a total of over £200,000 was raised for Breast Cancer Haven. The winning bid for the guitar lesson was a fantastic £35,000 made by a genuine fan from the UK.
Mark has made a contribution to a new film about the Fender Stratocaster guitar.
Filmed at his British Grove studio, Mark talks about his love of the ‘Strat’ for a new DVD called Strat Masters, which is to be released soon by Headstock Productions Ltd. Among others who talk about the Stratocaster are Bruce Welch, Hank Marvin, Ry Cooder, Chris Rea, Jeff Beck and Robert Cray. For further info, click here and here.

Mark and Emmylou were recently featured on PBS in the USA.
Tracks from Mark and Emmylou’s concert at the Gibson Ampitheatre on the 28th of June 2006 were used to close the current season of the prestigious American PBS programme, Soundstage. The show was broadcast by PBS on March 1st.
All the Roadrunning was among the nominees in the Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album category at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards which took place in Los Angeles on February 11th.

Mark and Jools Holland recently recorded a version of the Hank Williams track, You Win Again, to be featured on the upcoming Jools Holland collaboration album Moving Out to the Country. The album will be released through Warners on November 20th. Other artists featured on the album include: Brian Eno, Richard Hawley, Bob Geldof, Lulu, Tom Jones, Marc Almond, India Arie, Paul Carrack, David McAlmont, Ruby Turner, Sam Brown, Dr John, Solomon Burke and Allen Toussaint.

The Variety Club of Great Britian has presented Mark with their Silver Heart Award, the highest accolade the Variety Club can confer on an artist.
The award was presented to Mark at a special tribute lunch held at the Civic Centre in Newcastle-Unpon-Tyne. Around 700 guests attended the event which was MC’d by Jools Holland. Mark was joined by Guy Fletcher on keyboards for a performance of Local Hero.
