Mark will be playing an intimate semi-acoustic gig in Amsterdam, Holland on Sept 26th 2007 for a few lucky competition winners. The hour long show will premiere songs from the new album, Kill To Get Crimson, as well as featuring material from throughout Mark’s career. Mark and Guy have collaborated to produce the music for a major TV documentary called Seeing In The Dark to be aired by PBS in North America on Wednesday the 19th September (check local listing for times, etc). The hour-long film is the work of award-winning journalist and film-maker Timothy Ferris. Based upon Ferris’ best-selling book, it charts the rise and success of amateur astronomers. The film will be available on DVD (HD) from the 20th September at www.pbs.org

Mark’s Berlin Showcase will be broadcast on Germany’s RBB TV Channel on 21st September at 11 pm GMT.

To be released on the 24th September in the UK and most of the rest of Europe, the first single from the forthcoming Kill To Get Crimson album will be True Love Will Never Fade. This will be available digitally throughout much of Europe and also as a 7″ vinyl in the UK only (at this stage). In the USA and Canada the single will be Punish The Monkey, though a release date for the USA/Canada is yet to be announced.

Following on from the Honorary Doctorates conferred in 1993 by the University of Newcastle and in 1995 by the University of Leeds, Mark is to receive a third Honorary Doctorate of Music. The degree is to be bestowed by the University of Sunderland in recognition of his “outstanding achievements in the field of music.” You can read more on the University of Sunderland website.

The Honorary Doctorate was conferred at an academic awards ceremony held at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on the 11th of July.

Mark’s new solo record, Kill To Get Crimson, will be released worldwide on or around 17 September 2007. Mark will be out promoting this latest release in September, which may include some intimate performances in select capital cities.
