Mark has signed a red tie for the Cahonas Scotland fundraising auction.

Cahonas are Scotland’s Testicular Cancer charity educating, creating awareness, eradicating embarrassment & stigma and installing a new healthy habit that could one day save a life. They’re on a mission to stamp out late detection of Testicular cancer. Giving men the lowdown and educating them on the signs and symptoms of Testicular cancer and empowering them to have the confidence to see a doctor if they notice any changes. Early detection means more effective treatment.

Celebrity Shoe Auction

Mark has donated a pair of autographed shoes to the Small Steps Project Celebrity Shoe Auction which will run from November 13th to the 22nd. Among a host of celebrities who have donated autographed shoes are Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Sir Tom Jones.


The Small Steps Project is a UK charity. 100% of profits raised will go to help support barefoot children living on landfill, providing them with shoes, education, food, play and dignity.

This week in 1978, Dire Straits released their eponymous debut album.

Great North Run

This year’s 40th Great North Run on Sunday 13 September is set to go virtual. Runners traditionally set off to Mark’s Going Home and he has recorded a new version especially for the occasion which participants will hear in the viRACE app. The run will be broadcast on BBC 1 TV starting at 10.30 am and will feature a performance by Mark.

Stand By Me

Mark has joined a number of artists – collectively ‘Whispering Bob’s All Stars’ – to make a special recording of ‘Stand By Me’. Brought together by Bob Harris of Old Grey Whistle Test fame to raise funds for Help Musicians. The single will be released on the 60th anniversary of the day the original was first recorded by Ben E. King on October 27th.
