The online record store Target is selling an exclusive edition of James Taylor’s a new album, Before This World, with two songs recorded during the Sailing To Philadelphia sessions. Produced by Mark and Chuck Ainley, the tracks are Pretty Boy Floyd and Diamond Joe. Mark plays on Diamond Joe but does not sing on either of the two tracks.
I remember him [ Mark] in the control room with me for much of the making of these two songs. It sounds as if we had intended for Mark to play on the outro but obviously we never got around to it.COMMENT

A bronze plaque bearing Mark’s name has been added to the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside Walk of Fame.
The Newcastle Quayside is an area along the banks of the River Tyne that was once an industrial area and busy dockside. It has been redeveloped to provide art, music and culture venues. Mark says “To be voted a Local Hero by the people of Tyneside is a wonderful honour which I will treasure.”

Farewell to BB King, the ‘King of the Blues’ who passed away yesterday, aged 89.
“BB King was an enormous influence on me and for countless others. I first heard him on the record ‘Live At The Regal’ at 15, and was struck by the sound and the emotion in his playing and singing and the effect of both on the audience. It was an honour to be a part of ‘BB King and Friends’, his 80th birthday recording of duets. BB will always be in my heart.”
