    Concert DVD

Anyone know if there will be released a DVD from a concert on the Kill to get Crimson tour?

    Re: Concert DVD

Well, let's hope so.  But I wonder how much Mark and his management want to invest in this.  If I remember right, Guy Fletcher commented on his site that the last DVD from the All The Roadrunning tour didn't do that well.

I know Mark doesn't like to look to the past, but it would be nice if some effort was put into updating some of the older releases.  A Night In London could use some work - like putting Sultans back in (it was on the VHS version) and cleaning up the sound some.  Of course; Alchemy has never been released on DVD.  And while footage was taken of the STP tour, the DVD project there was scrapped for some reason.

So going by past history, it's not easy to predict if this next tour will get a video or not.  Given today's HD technology, this would be the prime time to do it for the fans to enjoy for years to come - but who knows?

    Re: Concert DVD

DVD from KTGC tour would be GREAT. In fact, it would be the first real MK´s solo concert on DVD (and let´s say that many songs like Telegraph Road, What It Is, STP, Why Aye Man and many more well known songs from DS or MK are NOT on any official DVD, WHY???)

A Night In London is nice, but I don´t like the setlist (missing SOS AND MNF too, off course) a lot and it is not a "big" concert (minimally 5,000 people in the audience). And Real Live Roadrunning? I liked this DVD, when I bought it, but...sorry, this is a little bit boring against On The Night DVD for example. And there are too many "unknown", or more precisely not very well known songs. There are almost no GREAT solos and songs are too short etc...(And let´s say that DS fans don´t like this country style a lot, sorry, me too, I am 17 years old) And because Knopfler is unfortunately very well known because of a DS songs, this DVD was not very sucsessful, and that´s a pity!

So, I can´t say that release of 2008 tour DVD is probable or it is not. I just think it is possible.

    Let´s hope!!!!!Wink

Wow, that's too bad!!  I love the Road Running project, DVD, and live CD.  I know people like a particular artist to stay a certain way, but one of the reasons I like Knopfler so much is because of all his various influences.  I like to hear him play country, Celtic, cajun, rock, blues, etc. - all of it.

I have a feeling that there will be a DVD of this tour, because like has been said already, there still has'nt been a true MK solo concert release yet, and as he has been a solo recording artist for 12 years, and 6 albums, it is about time, lets hope so anyway.

    Re: Concert DVD

As much as we would all love to see a DVD released from the tour, I believe it is all a matter of logistics. I had heard the same point that Fujirich mentioned reading from Guy's site....the ATTR DVD didn't sell well.  I can't imagine that concert DVD productions are all that inexpensive to put out...on the contrary, they are probably costly as all hell. If Mark could take a poll in advance to predict the sales before production (I know everyone here would raise their hands saying "I want one!") he might go forward with it...but in the real world it might be a bit risky.

    Re: Concert DVD

Don't get me wrong, I would love a DVD of the concert and it wouldn't matter what it'd cost, but I don't think the audience is big enough (not the Mk lovers, but just in general, DVDs rarely sell extraordinarily well) to release another DVD, as there has been one released of the previous tour, perhaps the next or so... We'll see

    Re: Concert DVD

I can understand why PCM is complaining about people taking video cameras and recording concerts, but in all fairness, PCMs job is to promote (not that mark needs it all that much) marks fine work, to all the fans who want to watch his DVD's if it wasnt for these people recording in the shows we wouldnt get to appreciate how varied and breathtaking marks work actually is.

COME ON PCM pull your finger out and lets have a DVD of KTGC.

    Re: Concert DVD

Well, what i meant was, there has'nt been a true MK solo concert released that was made specifiacly for DVD, "A Night In London" was made for video, a DVD release would contain more, and be of higher audio and vision quality.
