I was in England just before Walk of Life came out and remember seeing a video of these guys playing in one of the tunnels that they have that go under the streets so you don't have to cross above.  Then a few months later back in the States the MTV version was a bunch of football clips!  I always wondered about that.  Maybe it marketed better in the states.

Definitely a sports fan. I've read it in some old interview. I believe he said he spends his free time in bed watching sports and that makes his wife crazy. And I think he's into motorcycle races.

About the question, if I got into position to talk to Mark Knopfler, I would probably faint before asking any questions.

Hi, it would be interesting to know when did Mark and DS for that matter, realized they had become a super group with a huge following?....Looking back you would guess that this could have happened sometime in the early 80s perhaps...It's just my guess, but it would be nice to know when they knew for sure they had made it big.............."Boy, this punch is a trip- it's OK in my book here, take a sip"........

I remember hearing about a tv show in which Mark was showing the playground of his elementary school in Glaasgow. He said it was a place where he made the first big decision in his life when a much bigger boy caught him and asked "Celtic or Rangers?" The answer was right but it wasn't said in that show what did he reply. That's what I would like to know. I'm pretty sure it was Rangers, but since I'm a Rangers fan I don't trust my judgement.
