Blue Plaque

Thursday - 26th November 2009

On Thursday 3rd December, Mark and John Illsley will be attending a short ceremony in Deptford, London, to unveil a blue plaque on the site of the first Dire Straits performance back in 1977. The award, presented by PRS for music, is part of a national campaign in the UK to highlight areas where significant musical events have taken place. The plaque will be fixed to Farrer House in Church Street, Deptford and unveiled at 11.30 am.

Yes, I agree with musicovergold... DAVID should be there, and Pick too, of course. David introduced John to Mark, after all...

Very nice that the guys now really get what the deserve! A simple gift with a great impact I hope! I also hope that Withers and Knopfler (David) will be there to remember the old days in the 70ies.
Congrats of us from Holland and hope to see Mark soon...remember...Holland was the first country where Sultans was a hit. I'm proud of that fact as a Dutchman.

Cheers! J. from The Hague (Den Haag)

I suppose Pick Withers is busy preparing for the West End Centre Aldershot gig with Gary Fletcher. It would be nice if Mark will be attending the Gary Fletcher Band performance on December 17. Being both a Mark Knopfler fan and a Pick Withers fan, I will certainly be there checking out the great, sensitive drummer.
