Any ideas about the chance of a US tour for this album?

Listened to it at least 40 or 50 times today. It started with a little disappointment because of the start of the song, sounds a little like Beyond My Wildest Dreams to me. That is an awesome song, don't get me wrong, but with the repetition in it I didn't get the feel immediately.
But now it already grew to me and I like it very much. I feel very sorry now that I have to leave my PC behind and get in the car without a download :-(
Can't wait to hear more, can't wait to get the whole CD or even a download would make me happy!

Sweet sweet song....What can i say...I was 12 when I first listened "Sultans" (I thought it was a Dylan's song..), now than I am 40 I am still listening Mark as my favourite artist and I am looking forward to see him again live! Thanks Mark!

The first song I ever heard was "Romeo and Juliet" - when I was a kid. Mark's music has become a part of my life since then. Now I am 40 and can't wait to hear more music from Mark, it's a real trademark in those poor times when you're listening to radio and TV music shows. Hope to see Mark soon on tour again. I was never a fan of DS, although I liked a few songs. Since I discovered Mark last year and listened to songs of his solo albums, I can say I am now addicted to his wonderful music! Even music of DS sounds great to me now! I love the new song TLWNF and am sure the album will be as good as the others are, I almost can’t wait to buy and listen! The new song is very nice, but I wait that mk has value and play these songs on new tour and not " money for nothing " and others songs because is a hoax.
If really he wants to give us songs of dire straits that play "down to the waterline " for example ... and not the same thing of always.
It is time about which he thinks a bit about the authentic fans, for once.

Mark is amazing.

I like this track very much. But I am a so-called "Die-hard-Fan". The decision to take this as a single in Europe instead the much better Punish The Monkey (so far I am able
to judge after 41 sec.) is nevertheless a little bit hard to understand. On german Radio f.e. I can´t think of a popular station that would play TLWNF. Though the song has undoubtely his typical MK quality, PTM would be more "popular". Just my humble opinion. Looking forward to the album release in about 4 weeks! All the best

as usual, great. Mark's voice has evolved along with his guitar playing, become richer, warmer, more defined. As I've said before, he has not disappointed me in 30 years.

What has taken me so long to come to this site? It's not like I didn't know it was here...longtime MK News member...Anyway, here I am. I am awaiting the new album with bated breath.

I totally love the chorus in 'We Can Get Wild'...'tell your daddy your no child' - a legendary song for a legend - Roll on the 'Kill to get to Crimson' TOUR!

I am so excited about the new album.  The songs I have heard so far are beautiful, especially TLWNF and WCGW.  Mark's voice is wonderful now!  Can't wait for the tour!

Lovely song makes me think of John Lennon taking up the cause back in the late 50's, after seeing Elvis (I've seen this rocking cat), could be make too I guess. Guitar is spot on for that era - a grower this one!

I do like more this WE CAN GET WILD! MK is better each year. Let´s just wait he plays on tour a little bit of rock-guitar, operatic-piano, mainly songs since 1996 and 3 or 4 excellent DS songs (from 1978, 1980 and 1985)

True Love will never fade is too lazy for MK standard.
This is not what I would normally expect from him.
Sad to say this but it is not really at his best, he's loosing
ground here.

Hope the rest of the album will have more to offer, fresher.

So far, yes. Punish The Monkey has been the most upbeat. But what I look for in Mark's music is what he obviously feels strongly about, not tempo or flash. He has cruised into comfortable, interesting territory for him, and if that's where he wants to be, that's where I want him to be. Set aside your I-wants. It's not about you, really. Please let him go where he wishes without dissing any of the new stuff...every new song is a new step in a long journey. I am so glad he hasn't hung up his skates yet. I so hope he's still bringing us music to argue about for long, long years to come.

It seems that MK is looking for more HARMONY in his musics and less rock. Fine! But that can be misunderstood by some fans to whom he works too.
In my humble opinion, I think MK could manage to do both in the same cd, because HARMONY and PROGRESSIVE ROCK is what we all love!

OK, but fans can give their opinions and feelings about what MK is doing with HIS music.
It is obvious that without fans (with opinions) MK would not be what he is today as a musician!!

Too often fans try to direct the show. The story begins and ends with MK. He is a storyteller, and has always been. In late years, he has become a more subtle storyteller. It's more about the nuance than the equipment, although he chooses his tools VERY carefully. In fact, I suspect the tools (instruments) for this particular album were chosen with far more consideration than ever before, and we will be treated to something we should all be honoured to hear. He is a genius of his generation and his peers understand that, if the rest of the musical community does not. I appreciate anything he comes out with. There are some things I appreciate more than others, but I trust MK to be the engineer on this train.

Waiting on a Knopfler work, is like looking out over a well established vineyard. You know its going to produce some great wine, packed with notes and tones..... A full Beaujolaise, soon to become a favorite Claret.

Great lyrics, but musically boring. Surely will skip this song most of the time when I insert the Kill To Get Crimson cd into my cd-player. Punish The Monkey would be my choice as single, for what i've heard so far from the album. The DJs in the Netherlands won't give it much airplay i think.

I am sure that MK is the engineer on this train! We all know that, DKnop knows that, DS knows that, Ed Bicknell knows that, GF knows that. And it is normal in a great guy.
But, speeking about music (!), I am sure that any song of the first DS album is better and more beautifull than TLWNF. And any good musician would say that.
MUSICAL HARMONY does not have to mean "slow music" or "repetitive music".
On the other hand, I do love MK carreer and musics. I also think he is the best guitar player and one of the best rock musicians ever!

Great to see that the fans are anxious as i am for the new CD. i have always enjoyed listening to what MK has to say since many of the tracks are always so very personal in nature and work on so many levels,i expect that KTGC will indeed carry on the fine track record Mark has established over some 30 years now. Just the cd title alone makes me think that it will take several listens to KTGC to get what is being presented to his fans. As always, you have to make an effort to go along with it , but it's a very enjoyable trip, and worth it in the long run. WCGW makes me wonder what the future has in store. Hope MK can tour to Vancouver Canada.

I think that the song TLWNF is far from what most of the fans are waiting for. I think that many  of us are waiting for songs more in the way of Boom like that or Pyroman but at the end always happen the same Mark does “His own sweet way” and the more you listen new Mark ideas, the more we love his music…

The new numbers, that I heart, are great.
I think that the new album is gonna be great.

At the risk of sounding undiscriminating (which, I assure you, I'm not), I've said it before: Mr Knopfler could don a clown suit, stand in a bait barrel and recite the alphabet, and I would love every syllable. I am willing to give him every consideration. Just think of the countless tunes he must have worked on over the course of his career and scrapped as not up to par. If he's anything like me as a writer, the trash bin isn't far away. I listen to every tune with an open mind; on SL, I absolutely detested "Don't Crash The Ambulance" - the first time through. Almost from the second listen though, I was captured...and now it's one of my favourites.

"Don't Crash The Ambulance" is great and funny (about the "amazing" mr. GW Bush).
I have listen to recent interview ok MK about this new CD.
He teels that he plays live want he wants and only that. We know and it is good. But always RAJ, SOS and BIA? Strange! What about other songs from 1978?

Paulo! The allegiance police will probably come and drag me off to jail for saying it, but "amazing" is too colossal a word for George-Of-The-Jungle Bush! It IS a great song...very wickedly sharp and funny, darkly. I love Jim Cox's harmonica effect backing the haunting guitar.

I'm likeing it!!  He's Brilliant!!! Appears to play so effortlessly!!! Can't wait for him to come back to Chicago!!!

The song mentions a tattoo he puts on his lover's back.  Is the title a clue to what the tattoo was?  Maybe he's saying, "True Love" will never fade, meaning the tattoo.  Maybe I need to get some sleep.

I loved the song, by the way.

I have listened “Punish The Monkey” to the radio and I think that it is more qualified to launch the album. “True Love Will Never Fade” is a good track but it is not a catchy tune.

By the way I think that ktgc will be a wonderful album!

as a player who has only been playing for a couple of years Mark has been an inspiration to me. By breaking the rules he creates a unique sound and tone - one which I try to emulate, usually fail miserably, but enjoy trying anyway!! Got most albums and have not been disappointd yet. I eagerly await Kill to Get Crimson and from the samples I have heard, it should be quite something. Keep on keeping on Mark - see you on the next tour night in the UK.

I'm afraid the single "True Love Will Never Fade" won't make it anywhere in the charts. Mark Knopfler is an Album artist, people don't buy the singles. And it's not catchy enough to be played on any of the mayor radio stations.
The single has the same feel as most Ragpickers Dream tracks, not really my kind of music, despite that it's made by Mark.

"Punish The Monkey" on the contrary would sell as a single and would be played on at least a few radio stations, but still would do better if released prior to the album release.

I wonder what Secondary Waltz will sound like on the album... how good will it be compared to the great version from the "Golden Demos"?

The new album will have it treats I'm sure and I'm very much looking forward to the tour. Always great to meet my fanfriends from around the globe, while enjoying the wonderful music of MK!

It's not his Les Paul or the red Strat, looks like an Airline from the 60's...has a lot of controls on it...first time I have seen Mark use a pick and a tremolo...sounds really good.

I am very eager to hear the new stuff.....BUT why, oh why is the B-side of Mark's singles ALWAYS a VERY well known song... Correct me when I'm not making any sense, but I am really really sad to see 'Boom, like that' as the second song. Why???? Every fan is searching the world for some rare stuff you know. Why not a rare live-version of 'Industrial Disease' or a studio song that never made Shangri-La, Golden Heart or something like that.
Ok, some frustration there, sorry. Anyone else agrees?
